5 Blogging hacks for online course creators

One of the first things you learn when you set about promoting your business is that you should start blogging for better online visibility. Depending on how much you enjoy creative writing, you’ll be happy or daunted by this notion, yet the bottom line is that posting regularly on a blog can increase your marketing success.

The ultimate goal is to direct lots of traffic from your blog posts to your online course landing page. Here are five things to keep in mind when developing a blog as a course creator:

  1. Focus on quality over quantity

People who search for solutions to their problems want to find genuine answers. To attract new customers, your blog should offer something of value. It’s better to take your time to research a subject and publish a lengthier, more in-depth article once a week than struggle to come up with something every other day.

  2. Include graphics

Share images on your Pinterest and Instagram accounts to get better visibility and direct more traffic to your blog. Of course, it’s easier to work with a graphic designer, but there’s the possibility to do it on your own with minimal resources. There are several ways for you to create branded graphics, from Photoshop or Illustrator to Canva or go with free apps.

  3. Be yourself

Blog writing may or may not be your forte but you shouldn’t make it more difficult by using something other than your own voice. Do not pretend to be someone else or try to use language that doesn't come naturally to you – you’ll either eventually slip or it will become very tedious.

  4. Make an archive of your blog posts

Organize the blog content in a way that makes it easy for visitors to find all the major topics on your site. Create an archive or a summary page and add a search button. Limiting your audience to those who happen to come across one of your titles at a certain time is a mistake – make it easy for them to read more.

  5. Have strong URLs

Your blog post URL should be focused on keyword or keyword phrases that indicate what the content of your blog actually is about. Search engines can’t unscramble complicated URLs, they just read them so if you want your target audience to find you, be relevant to the search engine first.
