January product news: Agent permissions and waitlist management

Written by CYPHER Learning | Jan 25, 2026 10:00:00 PM

We are kicking off 2026 with new ways to give you more control over your platform experience. From managing AI access to streamlining how instructors handle enrollment requests, here is a look at what has been added to CYPHER Learning this month.

Week of Jan 5

CYPHER Agent tools permissions

Super administrators can now control exactly who has access to our AI tools. A new AI section in the permissions grid allows you to enable or disable Course create, Skills create, and the Learn tool by role for both the default organization and sub-organizations. This helps you manage feature rollouts more effectively and ensures users have access to the specific tools they need.

Create time limits for purchased courses

For platforms using e-commerce, you can now set a specific duration for course access after a purchase is made. By defining a Purchase length, a user’s access will automatically expire once that time period has passed. To help with transparency, this duration is also displayed on the course tile in the catalog so users know exactly how long they have to complete their training.

Coursera auto login

Building on our SAML 2.0 Identity Provider (IdP) capability, we now support automatic login for Coursera. Once set up, users can move from your CYPHER platform into the Coursera catalog seamlessly without being prompted for additional login credentials.

Behind the scenes

Accessibility updates: We have updated various navigation links to button elements to improve keyboard navigation and refined lang attributes to ensure screen readers identify the correct language for users.

Week of Jan 12

Waitlist enrollment requests

We have improved the way course owners manage enrollment requests for courses with active waitlists. In addition to standard notifications, requests now appear directly in your To-do widget on the home dashboard. Selecting a request will take you to a new Approval requests page where you can approve or reject pending requests in one centralized location.

Behind the scenes

  • Streamlined notifications: We have retired the separate notifications widget in the right panel. Friend and group membership requests now live within the To-do widget, making it easier to manage all pending actions in one place.
  • Enhanced calendar invites: When course sessions are rescheduled or canceled, the platform now automatically sends update or cancellation emails. Additionally, meeting links and info from the Description field are now included in the calendar email invitation.
