Driving successful AI adoption with Graham Glass

In the latest installment of our thought leadership series, CYPHER Learning Founder and CEO Graham Glass addresses a critical challenge for modern businesses: how to ensure employees actually embrace AI agents for learning.

According to Graham, the hurdle isn't getting people to like generative AI—hundreds of millions of people already use tools like ChatGPT every day. The real challenge is making the learning platform experience just as enjoyable and intuitive as the tools they use in their personal lives.

The key to AI integration

Graham describes the strategy for success as a "jujitsu move." Rather than fighting against how people currently use AI, organizations should lean into it. People have grown accustomed to "learning-in-the-moment"—the ability to get an immediate answer to a specific question.

Historically, users have logged into their learning platforms only when required, often for compliance, and then left as quickly as possible. To ensure successful adoption, the learning platform must provide an experience that is "way better than ChatGPT," integrating those quick wins with beautifully designed, structured courses.

Balancing two modes of learning

Successful AI adoption relies on supporting two distinct ways that people acquire knowledge:

  • Learning-in-the-moment: Providing a clickable concept map, table of contents, and a conversational agent that allows users to talk through things they are stuck on.
  • Traditional courses: Creating visually beautiful, gamified, and automated courses that provide a visceral experience for the learner.

Beyond the standard chatbot

Graham highlights that for AI agents to be truly effective in a business context, they must go beyond the capabilities of a standard chatbot. This includes providing graphical overviews of subjects and ensuring all information is cross-checked by premium AI models to maintain accuracy and trust—something standard consumer tools often miss.

By making it as easy and pleasant as possible for people to find answers and complete training, organizations can transform their learning platform from a requirement into a destination that employees genuinely love to visit.
